I feel like the IRB isn't actually as terribly complicated as we are making it out to be. At least we have these nice forms that we can basically just edit to suit our needs! That being said, it is pretty repetitive and annoying to write...at this point I find myself asking "How much repetition is too much repetition?" The answer seems to be "There is no such thing as too much repetition." So repeat away, I shall! At least, this is a draft...especially for those of us who are still going to be missing parts (i.e. letters from the administration at the schools we are going to be doing our studies at....) so it's not final, and we still have time to update it as needed!
I think I'm just getting really overwhelmed with the last week or two, but I'm trying to keep a positive attitude!
Yes! This is a draft!! I think keeping that in mind has decreased my stress quite a bit! I was obsessed with getting the language just right and trying to construct the perfect questions, but the truth is that we are probably not likely to have those perfect questions until we are actually collecting data! So "good enough" is good for me!
ReplyDeleteGood Luck to you and the rest of the semester!

Agreed, Marin. IRB turned out to be less harrowing than expected...perhaps that's because I did it after the ed psych signature assignment. That assignment was so intense that I was grateful for straightforwardness (is that a word?) of the IRB. Final stretch guys!
