Finishing up IRB Forms

I have just spent the last two hours working on IRB. I have filled in my application, worked on the narrative form, and polished up the consent form. I also have a good start on interview questions. I am feeling like I am in a good place, but as if there are still some things I don't understand. For example, the narrative asks you to talk about the potential conflict of interest that exists. Is there one for me? All I can think of is that I will will interning at the site where I am conducting research. However, because I do not have direct power to influence student grades or school policy, there seems to be very little conflict. What should I write here, Jolynn?

At this point, I am feeling like I just want to power through all of this so that I can get the focus back on the lit review. I haven't read any articles in a week or so now and I need to refocus. But it's hard to divide my attention between the lit review and the IRB process. Does anyone else feel this way?

Breathe. Ok, let me take a moment to focus on my accomplishments:

1) I have a topic that I am passionately interested in.
2) My question although not perfect keeps getting closer and closer to the "truth".
3) As I stated previously, I have done a lot of work on IRB forms and will most certainly be ready to turn in my drafts on Wednesday
4) I am being productive right now while my car is getting a tune-up in the shop.
5) I am going to meet my good friend for coffee later.
6) It's almost the weekend!

  1. I feel the exact same way ,Alissa. I feel like I need to get IRB out of the way so that I can re-focus on the collosal lit. review! I like your non-school successes. Sometimes I forget to celebrate those :)
