I found the mini lesson about the formation and structure of the literature review to be very helpful! While we were looking over the paragraph from the sample literature review I noticed that the authors did not talk specifically about the participants or details of the studies that they were using. This was eye opening to me, because in my lit review rough draft I included background information about the research information I was citing in my writing. This new insight will help me to read for key facts and findings in the articles more effectively. I also found it helpful to be given guidance about how the paragraphs that make up the lit review can be separated by common themes and that each article does not have to be specifically cited in the lit review.
This week I will be implementing skimming strategies in which I pull out a few key points from each article that I read so that I can look for common themes and authors whose ideas align with mine. With these new tips about the structure of the literature review I am feeling more directed and that the assignment is more manageable...now on to reading more articles!
