PM's Question

How does service-oriented, project-based learning inspire identity and autonomy in the K-8 classroom?  How are students more aware of their location and purpose in the world?
Rationale:  I was interested in student identity (race, culture, gender, socioeconomic status) and autonomy and how do we as educators inspire this awareness as a means to purpose at a fundamental level.  How does engaging in service help students see themselves--as individuals, in their local environment and in the world (globally)--and inspire purpose, classroom community, and care?

Finding the coordinates:  Helping students navigate to the location of identity, autonomy, global awareness, purpose and care through service-learning in the K-8 classroom
